They are known as the smallest species of African Cichlid with males reaching a max size of around 1.75'' and females about 1.5''.  These fish have big personalities and are entertaining to watch as they excavate their aquarium and interact with each other.  Shell dwellers will readily breed in your aquarium.  As their name “shell dweller” implies, these fish spend their entire lives around their shells.
